I’ve moved!

Finally, I have registered my domain! Please follow me here & update your blog readers.

I still have some tweaking (and a new header coming) to the new site, but I think it’s a better format so far.

Do you like it?

I’m a December Chevy Cruze Girl!

Earlier this week I mentioned some exciting news…

Well…Little ol’ me was contacted by Chevy last month and asked if I’d be interested in being one of three Chevy girls for the month of December! Um, duh! Not only do I get to be in the first round of girls to drive the 2011 (brand new!) Chevy Cruze, I also get to partake in weekly missions in the sweet ride! I. Can’t. Wait.

The two other girls that will be riding around in style in the Chevy Cruze this month are Alicia at Poise in Parma and Katie at the Healthy Heddelston. This month’s theme is Girlfriend Getaway….yes, please!

Business cards = legit.

Don't mind our awesome countertops and wall! Renovations :/

We’ll be posting blogs and videos about our adventures on our individual blogs as well as on the Gotta Love Chevy NEO site. Or you can check us out on Twitter: @chevyohio and #chevygirls or ‘like’ the Facebook Group.

Rest assured, my blog won’t turn into Chevy central. However, you will see a few updates each week about the Cruze! Happy December!

Full disclosure: The Girls On The Go campaign is being sponsored by NEO Chevy dealers who gave selected bloggers a 2010 Chevy Cruze to test drive for one month and blog about our experiences using the vehicle. Girlfriend Getaway has given us some fun projects to do and will be providing us with gift cards to allow us to complete the missions. All opinions are my own.

Hello, world.

The past 5 days were just what the doctor ordered. I took a well-deserved break from the internet, blogs, Twitter, Foursquare, Facebook, etc. I neglected my own blog, but life will go on. Sometimes real-life gets in the way (and I loved every minute of it!).

I got everything in I needed this weekend: QT with my girlfriends, sweatpants, couch time, puppy cuddles, turkey, shopping, the Browns game and a gourd toss. Really, we partook in the annual ‘Shenanigans’ party which included a pumpkin toss.

Look out below!

I have some exciting news to share later this week, I can’t wait!

How was your long weekend? Do you ever take a vacation from technology?

Snolympics: The best kind of Snow Day

Tuesday I was lucky enough to be invited to the Indians Snow Days Media Day. Not only could I tube down the Batterhorn, skate around the Frozen Mile and frolic in the fake snow, I participated in the Cleveland Snolympics!

Basically all the Cleveland media outlets (TV, radio & internet) competed in a 4-legged race! It was a tad disorganized, but it was meant to be fun. After my coworker slid down the Batterhorn, I ran a 20 yard dash (in boots mind you) and then 2 other ice skated their way to the finish line.

The TV guys were quite competitive.

The Batterhorn. This was went faster than you'd think.

Onion, my boss, ketchup, you know who, mustard & Julie!

This is such a creative idea at Progressive Field, I feel so fortunate to have gotten a sneak peak. If you have kids, take them, they will love it! Even if you don’t have kids, this provides some adult fun, too! They have typical ballpark fare along with healthier options such as salads and turkey sandwiches. Beer is also available for purchase 🙂

General Admission: $5 (Provides access to Slider’s Snow Mountain, Winter Haven, Food/Beverage and all other Indians Snow Days activities with the exception of snow tubing and ice skating)
Frozen Mile (Ice Skating): $10 (Unlimited ice skating, including skate rental and General Admission access)
Batterhorn (Snow Tubing), presented by RTA: $20 (Two hour Batterhorn session and General Admission access)
Batterhorn/Frozen Mile Combo: $25 (Two hour Batterhorn session, unlimited Frozen Mile access including skate rental and General Admission access)
Family Pack: $100 (Two Adults and Two Children can enjoy a two hour Batterhorn session, unlimited Frozen Mile access including skate rental, General Admission and Food/Beverage credit)
***Please note- Children under three years old are free but not permitted on the Batterhorn.

Tip: Make sure you dress appropriately! I pulled a major ameatuer move by not bundling up. When I left the house Tuesday morning it was 58 degrees! Regardless of the outside temp, the snow and ice absolutely cool down Progressive Field. Pack mittens, scarves and hats!

Want to take a ride down the Batterhorn? Join me 😛 (Don’t mind the horrible camera angles, my thumb and my boots!)

Girls night out: Blogger Beauty Sale

Wednesday night was just what the doctor ordered: Girls night out at a Blogger Beauty Sale! I adore the BF, but all the testosterone that accompanies renovations can overwhelm me at times: jackhammering, tiling, smoking, sanding, drinking, etc.

I was extremely excited when Michelle from All Lacquered Up (the primo nail polish site) invited a dozen or so bloggers, (including little ol’ me!) to her house for her Blogger Beauty Sale. I remember drooling reading about the event on Alexa and Allison’s blogs last year.

Since Michelle lives on the eastside, which is foreign territory to me, I basically invited myself to ride with Heather and Allison. Thankfully, they weren’t too creeped out and let me tag along ;). I’m glad they did because we all got along wonderfully!

We finally meet! And no, we didn't plan matching outfits! (Thanks for the pic, Heather!)

Upon arriving (may or may not have gotten *lost* 4 times), we wined and dined with some other Cleveland bloggies before Michelle unleashed the hounds…er, let us downstairs to have at all her excess beauty goods!

I got my paws on some awesome products:

Instead of costing me $70-$80, all these goods only cost me $25! Not only was it a enjoyable night with some awesome chicas, all the profits were donated to Living Beyond Breast Cancer!

All in all a great night! Thanks for hosting us, Michelle!

Sunday Funday – the proper way

Monday mornings are always less painful after the Browns win. They are still painful, just not as bad!

I am a lucky girl who got my hands on two amazing tickets for Sunday’s game. I took my buddy J and pre-partied in the pit, of course. We were dropped off and walked down around 10 a.m. I heard a lot of moaning later in the morning because the parking attendants were charging people $5 to WALK THROUGH THE LOT. That is the dumbest thing I have heard in awhile. I am glad I wasn’t approached because a) I didn’t have any cash and b) I would have either laughed or swore in the person’s face. It’s just an asinine concept – I can’t tell you how many times I have used the pit as a cut-through from W. 3rd to W. 9th. I digress.

It was down-pouring Sunday morning but the sun was trying to peak through for a few hours before the game and we stayed mostly dry. A success on so many levels…

My 'date' for the game.

CP! Yes, I was rocking snow pants...

I expect to see a lot of these shirts tailgating this year.

19th row!

The Ohio State marching band performed at halftime. Always entertaining!

We found Ryan Dunn (from Jackass) outside - he's a Browns fan!

Browns WIN!!

Woof, woof! I hope I’ll have a similar post next Monday!

I also had the chance to hang out with some tweeps in the pit: @timmybennett, @colfrank and @JShihadeh. Anyone else tailgating? Let’s meet up next week!

Heinens: They just get it

In my humble opinion (for what it’s worth), I believe Heinen’s blows away their competition when it comes to social media presence. They get it. Unfortunately, many local business and restaurants just don’t. They may be catching on, however, Heinen’s takes the cake. Of course there’s always room for improvement and criticism, but Heinen’s is continually adapting on the roller coaster that is social media.

It’s easy enough to create a Twitter account, join foursquare and create a Facebook brand page. It’s a different thing to have a dedicated social media employee (Hi Liz!) who engages users, converses with fans and continually posts recipes, questions, giveaways and more.

Last year, the BF and I won 2 Viking cooking class vouchers courtesy of Heinen’s. If my memory serves me correctly, all I did to win this prize was post a comment on their Facebook page stating what my favorite thing about Heinen’s was (for me that’s, hands down, their customer service and friendliness). We certainly enjoyed our evening on the east side making Ruth’s Chris steak salad, bacon-wrapped shrimp and other yummies.

Alana M. would be me!

Most recently, I entered a contest via Facebook to win a basket of salt-free spices. Lucky me, I won! This is a truly great prize. I can’t wait to test out new spices and use old-favorites (that’s you, Mrs. Dash). On Friday night (bad blogger, no pics!) I made turkey ‘fiesta’ taco salad using red pepper flakes, granulated garlic, cilantro, cumin, freshly ground pepper and sriracha sauce. We did not miss the salt!

Look at all those salt-free spices! (Don't mind the plywood countertops! :))

I’m excited to try out new salt-free recipes considering we love our salt; we may or may not have a mason jar full of kosher salt roaming around the kitchen. What are your favorite low-sodium dishes? I’m currently browing the interwebs for some tasty recipes.

Thanks again to Heinens, you rock! Check them out on Facebook and Twitter.

**Note: This post is entirely my opinion. Heinens did not sponsor this post**
